Wilton Mixed 14 Win Surrey Shield 2009

Wilton's Mixed 14 team
won the Surrey Shield at the National Tennis Shield on December 30th. Following
nail-bitingly close wins against Oxshott and Ham/Petersham in previous rounds,
Wilton came up against the holders David Lloyd Raynes Park in the final. As in
each round, our girls (Kace Bartley and Katy Preston) won the first match
convincingly. James Evans and Eliot Williams had a real battle in the boys
doubles and managed to win in a third set match tie break. Victory for our 1st
mixed pair of Katy and James was therefore enough to bring the trophy back to
Wilton...in pride of place in our new trophy cabinet!
