Wilton Junior Tournament 2010 - Review & Winners

The 27th Wilton junior tournament took place in mid February. Despite some bad weather a total of 303 matches were completed-some of a very high standard. Results of the finals were as follows:

 

Girls 18: Katharina Blik bt Nicole Shaknazarova 6-2, 6-2

Boys 18: Mark Whitehouse bt Adam Drysdale 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (5)

Girls 16: Millie Stretton bt Chloe Halliday 6-2, 6-4

Boys 16: Neil Cordon bt Youssef Hassan 7-5, 6-0

Girls 14: Millie Stretton bt Chloe Halliday 6-2, 6-0

Boys 14: Youssef Hassan bt Enrique Vidal 6-4, 6-2

Girls 12: Olivia Berry bt Darinka Tiboldi 6-4, 6-4

Boys 12: Alastair Gray bt Matiss Ozols 6-1, 6-3

Boys Doubles: Isaac and Yusef Stoute bt Christian Kerrigan and Sasha Philbert 6-4, 6-3

Girls Doubles: Nicola Joyce and Tamara Weymouth bt Kace Bartley and Katy Preston 6-2, 6-2

 

Finals Day featured presentations from comdian and founder of 'Tennis for Free', Tony Hawks. Tony played and won tie breaks against four of the singles winners but was defeated by Mark, Neil and Youssef.

 

The Arek Szrajbman Trophy for the best performance by a Merton competitor was won by Chloe Halliday for reaching two singles finals.

 

The best achievement by Wilton members was that of Kace and Katy in reaching the girls doubles finals.
