Tuesday, 15 January 2008
Dear Member

I should like to wish all members a Happy 2008. If your resolutions include shedding a few pounds (or stones, in my case!) I hope you will be making regular visits to Wilton!

Social tennis restarts this evening and continues every Wednesday (from 7.30 to 10pm) and at weekends from 2.30 to 6 pm.

Entries are now open for our winter closed tournament with the finals to be held on Sat 26th April. The following events will be held: Mens Singles, Ladies Singles, Ladies Doubles, Mens Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed Doubles (Drawn Partners), Ladies 35+Singles, Mens 35+Singles, Mens 45+ Singles, Mens 55+ Singles, Handicap Singles (open to all).

Please enter on the club notice board or by replying to this email. Please let me know if you require a doubles partner. Entries are free and must be made by Wed 23rd January.

Coaching courses resume the week commencing Mon 14th January. They are for improver/non team standard and are scheduled as follows: Tues 6.30-7.30 pm, Thurs 7-8 pm. Sat: 11.30am -1.00pm and Sun: 6.00-7.30pm. All courses last for 10 weeks (including a 2 week break from 10th-24th Feb). The cost is £80 for midweek courses and £100 for the weekend courses. Courses will have a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 players. Please let me know if you wish to sign up. Once accepted you will be asked to pay in full on the date of your first session.

Team practice sessions resume next week with Mondays from 8pm for Mens 1-4 and Ladies 1-2. Tuesdays will continue from 7.30pm for Ladies 3-4 and Mens 5-7. The cost is £3 per session to be paid on the evening.

Could I also take this opportunity of reminding you about the need for care with the security of the club. There was an occasion recently when the club was left open. It is the responsibilty of all members to ensure that the clubhouse is locked and the gate padlocked if you are the last member to leave.

Work has started on a substantial upgrade of the changing room facilities  and this will continue for the next two or three weeks.

Best regards

Terry

Sky Sports Is Back At The Club!

Tuesday, 15 January 2008
Dear Members

I'm pleased to tell you that, following a committee meeting sometime ago, we now have Sky Sports available again at the club. This is an expensive undertaking for us and I  hope that members will enjoy the facility.

A Welcome From Shelly, Our New Head Coach

Friday, 02 November 2007
Shelley L.SusmanDear Wilton Members

Please allow me to introduce myself... I am the new Head Coach and very pleased to be aboard!

I originate from San Diego in California where I had the privilege of being around some very good players.

I'm looking forward to bringing good tennis to Wilton and would love to help you improve your game as well. I enjoy teaching everyone-children who are just holding a racquet for the first time, adults and children who play for fun and more advanced players who are serious about their game.

Please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with regards to tennis programming-either group or individual lessons. You can also contact me on my mobile 07737 845331 or at the club 020 8296 9668. I would be more than happy to assist you.

Ben will be greatly missed as he has been with you for five years and he is a great guy who knows how to instil a viable tennis programme. I can only hope that I will be able to do the same and, with your support, will continue to strive for excellence.

I had the privilege of partnering Kim in our first ladies team match last Sunday. I  really hope that she decides to venture back from her homeland in the New Year as I  think that she is top class!

One of Billie-Jean King's favourite sayings is ''Ya Gotta Luv It''. From what I gather from both Terry and Ben,as well as other members who I've met thus far, that's what the common denominator seems to be at Wilton- the LOVE of the game!

Let's go to work!

Respectfully

Shelley L.Susman

Superteams 2007 - Congrats to Kim and Ben

Sunday, 21 October 2007
Our SuperSets took place on 13th October. 7 teams of  6 took part in an astonishingly close competition. The top 4 teams won an identical number of rubbers and could only be separated by game difference. This made for a very close final between teams captained by our two departing Australian coaches. Ben's team (Rafa's Rotation named after the manager's selection policy) lost narrowly to Kim's team (We're All Here- so named because they were the first to arrive! ). Congratulations to all who took part in a very enjoyable day but especially to Kim's pairs of Nick Trayford/Kim, Oscar Grancha/Dennis Parker and James Evans/Ines Rotondo. The most successful pairing of the day was the unbeaten partnership of Mary Franck/Becky Mitchell.
