Supersets 2008 Won By 14 Year Old Star

Our 2008 SuperSets was a great success. 32 players competed in a 1 set singles knock out competition with matches taking place throughout the day. The event was greatly enhanced by the services of ABTO official umpires and the ballboys and girls from the Lynn Jones Academy (in training for the forthcoming Albert Hall international veterans event). There were surprises galore in the mens event with the four qualifiers all defeating their higher rated opponents in the quarter finals. The final was thrilling with 14 year old Elliot Dimmock from Bracknell (in his fifth match of the day) coming back from match point down and then 1-5 in the tie break to defeat the much more experienced Chris Rolfe from Magdalen Park and take the £100 prize. The ladies final was an all-Wilton match with club coach Kim Freebairn defeating club captain Greta Musu by 6-3.
