Our summer tournament was completed on Saturday 19th July when the successful competitors were awarded their trophies by Club President, Dennis Parker. Demonstrating the multi-nationalism of the Wilton membership, four ladies dominated their events with two appearances each from Kim Freebairn (Australia), Greta Musu (Malta), Rochelle van der Walt and Jeanne Vermaak (both South Afica). Alex Kamieniecki followed up his triumph in the winter singles by winning the mens' singles. The other star of the day was Ashley Balm who took his total of Wilton titles to 28 by winning both doubles events-a mere 20 years after his first victory! Finals results were as follows:
Ladies Singles: Kim Freebairn beat Rochelle van der Walt 6-3, 6-3
Mens Singles: Alex Kamieniecki bt Paul Johnson 6-2, 6-4
Ladies Doubles: Kim Freebairn and Rochelle van der Walt bt Greta Musu and Jeanne Vermaak 6-1, 6-3
Mens Doubles: Ashley Balm and Ted Boyce bt Tom Coombe and Alex Kamieniecki 6-4, 0-6, 6-3
Mixed Doubles: Ashley Balm and Jeanne Vermaak bt Max Afriyie and Greta Musu 6-2, 6-3

Saturday night was Wilton Quiz Night - grand quiz master Terry hosted another extremely popular event, over 60 people formed 8 highly competitive teams, with "Terminal 7" being the eventual (and rather lucky if we're honest) winners.
The look from Terminal 7's star members Richard Embry and Matt Hudspith says it all!

Dear Member
We have three teams in forthcoming Surrey finals. Our Ladies 1st team (Kim,
Alex, Jacinta and Aya) play Westside in the Grade A final at Wilton at 2pm this
Sunday. We very much hope you will come along and add your support-should be a
really good match! Social tennis will continue as usual on the other two
courts.
Our Ladies 2nd team (Jeanne, Greta, Lara and Amanda) play at Godalming in
the Grade B final on Sunday 13th and on the same day our Mens 3rd team (David,
Michael, Stuart and Mihhail) go to Wentworth for their Grade B final.
Good luck to all three teams!
Terry
