The Men's 2nd team played their second home fixture of the summer season on
Wimbledon Finals Day, Sunday 6th July.
A day of strong winds and heavy
showers, both the weather and the slippery courts made it difficult for
either team to play their best tennis. South Croydon 1st pair though coped
best with the conditions and deserved their wins against both Wilton pairs
-Damian & Miguel, and Henry & Alex. Miguel and Damian made
a spirited come back from a set down in their other match.Well done to them
and thanks to all four Wilton players. Hopefully our next two fixtures will be
against slightly easier teams -
We have met some very good and determined
teams so far!

The 2nd Team had their second match of the Summer League season and worked
very hard to achieve a draw against a strong Dulwich 1st Team. Our pairs were
Paul Johnson and Henry Brooks and Miguel Escheletti and Alex kamieniecki.-
thanks to Miguel for filling in for Tom Coombe in this match, at short notice
due to injury. Neither Wilton pair had great success against the Dulwich first
pair who were both ex tour players and very difficult to beat. However
both Wilton pairs came back from a set down in their other match, to win in a
match tie break. Some great play in all four matches and the draw was well
deserved.
Thanks to the whole team.
Our next two matches are at home during July.

The Mens 2nd Team had their first match of the Summer league on Sun 4th May
at home v Magdalen Park.
The opponents were very strong and played extremely well - so a 1-3 loss
not so bad!!
Peter Olds, a welcome new member to the team, with Paul Johnson, as the No
1 pair, came back admirably in their first match to win 1-6, 6-4 (10-5).
Miguel Eschiletti, just back from Brazil, playing with Alex, put up a brave
fight in an entertaining, high standard match v MP's No. 1 pairing, but
unfortunately lost 4-6, 5-7.
Thanks to the team and good luck for the rest of the season.

beat Purley 4 matches to 0. 8 sets to 0.

Ben could be likened to George Best
(not sure I know any Aussie hell raisers, usually a bit shy at the bar) after
his late night antics and the dropping of only 5 games in 4 sets……Good debut for
the new Luke but what else would you expect with a name like
that!
